Uganda was once most closely associated with its former megalomaniacal leader, Idi Amin. Now that he has been out of the picture for decades, gorillas have thankfully taken his place as Uganda’s best-known mascot. While Uganda’s powerful primates tend to steal the show (and we will take you trekking with primatologists in Bwindi to see them), they should not overshadow the country’s other highlights: its impressive volcanoes, or the world’s largest tropical lake. Whether it’s by discovering Kampala’s throbbing hip hop scene, kayaking in Jinja, or meeting the wildlife, birds, and butterflies of the country’s Northern border with Sudan, our Uganda experiences will surprise you and challenge your assumptions of this stunningly complex East African country.
